The menu includes draft and bottled beers, wines from regional vintners, long drinks, non-alcoholic beverages, and light snacks. According to owner Tristan Berude—who already runs Das Nest in Mainz's Neustadt district with his business partner Anne Specht—the bar is designed to appeal to young and old alike, fitting in with the social life and residents of the neighborhood.

The large bar inside is also designed to be a convivial place. Built in a U-shape and equipped with comfortable upholstered seats, it invites guests to strike up conversations with friends and strangers alike. Berude built the entire interior himself. "We want to be a place where our guests feel at home, where they can snack, drink, and play together—just like in their own kitchen."

The bar is named after Berude's late father, whose original signature also adorns the menu and bar sign. "I just thought the name was beautiful and catchy for a bar, and the addition of 'evening business' makes it clear that we are neither a restaurant nor a café."
