Weinhaus Michel - Enjoy a glass of Rheinhessen wine

Note: An article from mainzMAGAZIN Fall/Winter 2007

Enjoy a cozy glass of wine "uff de Gass" in front of the Michel wine house

Take: exquisite wines from our own vineyard, a selection of delicious, typical Mainz dishes and a generous pinch of conviviality – welcome to Weinhaus Michel! Here, in the heart of Mainz's old town, winemaker and owner Stefan Michel often serves Rhine-Hessian wines himself. They come from his own Weinolsheim vineyard, which has been in the family since 1756. There is

always time for a quick chat about fine wines. And also for a tip to take part in the "wine carousel," a small wine tasting. The vaulted cellar can accommodate up to 60 people and stands on the foundations of the former Jakobsberg monastery. Private and business celebrations can be stylishly hosted in this historic setting.

Rheinhessen cuisine

Guests can enjoy the Mainz way of life as they sit together with a glass of wine and regional specialties in the wine bar or on the terrace in summer. As a special feature, the menu is written in the local Rhoihessisch dialect. The staff are happy to help with translations, as not every visitor to Mainz will be familiar with terms such as "e Pann" or "Rostbroade."
