SKOLL: Launch in September
Starting September 22, 2026, the “SKOLL” self-control training program will resume in Mainz—a free program for anyone 16 years of age or older who would like to reflect on their use of legal and illegal substances, or on their problematic behavior related to media or gaming.
The SKOLL prevention and support program has been offered by the BRÜCKE Youth and Drug Counseling Center, part of the Office for Youth and Family Affairs of the State Capital of Mainz, since 2008. The program is open to anyone aged 16 and older who is interested in examining and evaluating their consumption of alcohol or drugs, or, for example, their video game habits.
The next course begins on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. It consists of ten weekly sessions, held every Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., as well as an additional follow-up session. Participation is free of charge, but advance registration is required.
In a supportive environment, participants learn to reflect on their habits, develop realistic goals, and integrate these into their daily lives. This may involve:
- reducing their use
- abstaining from addictive substances temporarily or permanently
- achieving stable consumption patterns
- assessing risks more consciously
- taking more personal responsibility for their health and behavior
- to develop a deeper understanding of one’s own consumption patterns
