Badge of Honor of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate for Ilse Bittner
Ilse Bittner from Mainz-Finthen has been awarded the badge of honor of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. She was earmarked for this special award in recognition of her decades of voluntary work. The badge of honor was presented at a ceremony by Lord Mayor Nino Haase, who also gave the laudatory speech.
The Rhineland-Palatinate Medal of Honor is awarded to individuals who have volunteered for many years or who have rendered outstanding service to the common good.
In his address, Mayor Nino Haase praised the extraordinary life’s work of the honorees: “People like Ilse Bittner are the heart of our urban community. For decades, she has dedicated herself to helping others as a matter of course, strengthening social cohesion, and giving many people her time, attention, and compassion. This extraordinary life’s work deserves the highest recognition.”
Born on June 14, 1949, in Finthen, Ilse Bittner has always been closely connected to her hometown. After training as a hairdresser, she joined her parents’ business, “Salon Perske,” which she has now been running for more than 50 years as the third-generation owner. In addition to her professional work, she has been dedicated to the common good for decades with extraordinary commitment.
For many years, she has served on the board of the Finthen Trade and Tourism Association, where she advocates for the interests of local businesses and the revitalization of neighborhood life. In addition, she regularly organizes clothing drives to benefit the Sisters of Divine Providence in Mainz-Finthen.
Particularly noteworthy is her commitment to the elderly and those in need. Ilse Bittner regularly visits seniors with mobility impairments and assists them in their daily lives. Together with the “Finther für Finthen” initiative, she also supported the establishment of a free pick-up and delivery service for the elderly.
Ilse Bittner is also deeply rooted in church and cultural life. For more than ten years, she has served as a lector at St. Martin’s Catholic Church. She also works as a makeup artist for the ecumenical theater group “Kirchspiel Kamerata” and participates in various clubs and events during the Carnival season.
With her many years of volunteer work, her willingness to help, and her deep connection to the people of Mainz-Finthen, Ilse Bittner has rendered outstanding service to the community, Mayor Nino Haase emphasized in conclusion.
