Energy advice for homeowners and tenants

The Green and Environmental Agency cooperates with the Rhineland-Palatinate Consumer Advice Center

The state capital of Mainz, in cooperation with the Rhineland-Palatinate Consumer Advice Center and the Mainz Foundation for Climate Protection and Energy Efficiency, offers all citizens a tiered advisory program for all questions relating to building energy. This offer is supplemented by subsidies from the Mainz Foundation, which are aimed at all Mainz residents interested in renovation. As a first step, the Parks and Environment Department recommends that all interested parties start by obtaining an overview with the help of an initial consultation.

From time to time, there is something to do around the house. Whether it's a broken heater, leaky windows, redesigning the exterior facade, new usage requirements, an extension, or a change of ownership—there are many reasons for renovation, maintenance, or modernization measures in residential buildings. Renovation measures can greatly improve living comfort, and homeowners or tenants can save energy if they know how to do so and recognize favorable opportunities. Anyone who undertakes work on their home should always be aware of legal requirements, such as certain retrofitting obligations regulated by the Building Energy Act (GEG), and which measures are eligible for subsidies or low-interest loans.

In any case, it is advisable to take a comprehensive look at the entire system and all the goals to be pursued, at least when planning a renovation, rather than just considering individual aspects. This is what the energy consultations offered by the state capital of Mainz to homeowners and tenants free of charge or at a reduced rate are intended to achieve.

Note: Due to the current situation, changes to the advisory services offered are possible. Please contact our cooperation partners directly for more information.
