Climate Protection Advisory Board
The Climate Protection Advisory Board advises the city council and the city administration of Mainz on all fundamental issues that are important for climate protection.
The advisory board's recommendations are intended to influence climate-related political decisions in the city of Mainz, particularly those made by the city council, the city administration, and municipal companies, but also by the private sector and citizens in general. In addition, it provides impetus for possible climate protection and climate impact adaptation measures and projects.
The aim of the advisory board is to leverage local commitment and knowledge in the field of climate protection. The advisory board members also act as multipliers within their own organizations.
The Mainz City Council established the Climate Protection Advisory Board back in 1994. Since then, selected social actors have been involved in the city's climate protection activities with their technical, economic, and social expertise. The current rules of procedure open up the possibility for citizens who are not institutionally organized but have specialist knowledge and commitment to become members of the advisory board.
