There are municipal children’s, youth, and cultural centers in 10 districts of Mainz, and there are also other facilities for children and young people.
At these facilities, children, adolescents, and young adults can spend their free time, pursue a wide variety of interests, and are supported by trained educators. They have the opportunity to seek advice on concerns and difficulties, discuss any topics that are on their minds, or get help with school problems, homework, or career planning. In addition, the facilities offer visitors a wide range of recreational activities—even during school breaks.
Many elementary schools in Mainz offer after-school care for students in addition to regular school hours. These programs are typically managed by the parent-teacher associations of the respective elementary schools. The Coordination Office for After-School Care at Elementary Schools serves as the point of contact for schools and parent-teacher associations.
You can find more information about these programs on the Mainz Youth website.
