Protecting and preserving the cultural landscape – this is the core theme to which the Hein Winery is committed. In order to transfer this sustainability in the vineyard to the winery, the wine shop building was constructed in 2015 with sustainability in mind: empty vaulted cellars were integrated into the building, and old barrel staves were repurposed as wall cladding. In keeping with the spirit of sustainability, several solar panels are used to generate electricity, and a wood chip heating system is operated using vine wood.

Westwind wines reside in and around the tower of the newly built wine shop at the Hein Winery: it rises up in fresh green as a counterpart to the medieval residential and defensive tower opposite, which has been watching over the entrance to the Zellertal valley in Wachenheim for over ten centuries. From every floor of the building, visitors can enjoy a new facet of the cultural landscape while savoring wine—including a beautiful panoramic view from the terrace that extends all the way to the Zellertal valley.
