The department is managed by the watch commander. He is responsible for three watch divisions, each with a watch division commander, who work in shifts to perform the watch's operational functions. The most important task is to ensure that personnel are ready for action. This includes vacation and duty scheduling, daily assignment of duties, and coordination of tasks to be performed by the watch divisions during non-operational periods. Appraisals and staff appraisals are also an important part of personnel development. In addition, there is the ongoing maintenance of the fire station. A special feature of Station 2 is water rescue: the personnel who man the fire department boats and the divers perform their duties here.
